Welcome to Excellence in Islamic Architecture of Iran University of Science and Technology .
According to the cultural features in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s constitution and the third economic, social, and cultural development plan of the county, the Center of excellence in the Islamic Architecture has been established in the School of Architecture and Environmental Design of Iran University of Science and Technology. The main goal of this center is to provide the required settings for architectural studies based on Islamic views. These researches would help us in applying the strategic and practical fundamentals of Islam throughout design process. These efforts would facilitate the required basics towards critical thinking for the creation of Iranian-Islamic identity. Especially, the contemporary crisis in architecture, motivating the regeneration of aims behind Islamic revolution.

Memorandum of Islamic Architecture Faculty establishment |

The agreement is held between the Center of excellence for Islamic Architecture and Isfahan Municipality which leads to the establishment of Islamic Architecture, Urban Design and Urban Planning Faculty, in Isfahan Art University. This agreement will improve education and communication between executives and university institutes in national policy making and planning of this field. |

| The program engages cooperation with architectural groups to revise the curriculum, publishing books and journals based on Islamic-Iranian culture, establishing workgroups to develop scientific reports (fundamentally and practically), promoting theorization in architecture, aesthetics, art philosophy, industrialization and architectural engineering, developing scientific projects for revitalizing Islamic-Iranian identity, cooperation and communication with other national and international institutes dealing with Islamic architecture, taking part in national and international conferences, seminars and programs, applying joint researches with domestic and foreign institutes, proposing strategies for revising national, regional and local plans and legislations based on the principles and criteria of Islamic culture. |

The main activities of Avini Center for architectural studies can be divided into the following three sections: 1. National Studies Important fundamental studies which have been carried out as part of memorandums and contracts with policy making centers are as follows: a) Study on” Islamic Identity in Architecture and Urban planning and Design” for Road and Urban Development Ministry (former Housing and Urban development Ministry),2009 b) Study of “Islamic-Iranian identity in new towns”for Road and Urban Development Ministry (former Housing and Urban development Ministry).2010 - 2011 c) Contract for publishing three educational books for universities titled: “Islamic Art Wisdom”, “Theoretical Fundaments of Architecture” and “Man, Nature, Architecture”. These books are in line for publication by Ministry of Science. |

| The fields of architecture and urban planning and design are playing important roles in policy making and the supreme leader has had recommendations in these regards. Ministry of science has also asked the credible universities to make adjustments to their curriculums based on the Iranian-Islamic viewpoint in undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. |
